With the absence of undesirable phthalates and a formaldehyde emission rating of E0, the lowest achievable results, Dunlop Flooring can help reduce the risk of asthma and allergy symptoms in your home.
The manufacturing process of our Vinyl, Luxury Vinyl & Hybrid floors is stringently monitored and designed to utilise only the safest of materials.
Low formaldehyde emission rating
Formaldehyde is a colourless strong-smelling gas. Rest easy with Dunlop Flooring, knowing that our floors have a formaldehyde emissions rating of E0. This volatile organic compound emission rating is well below the minimum emissions set by the Green Building Council Australia. The E0 rating refers to a classification standard for formaldehyde emissions from building materials. The E0 rating is one of the lowest emission standards for formaldehyde, indicating that the product emits formaldehyde at minimal levels, emitting less than or equal to 0.5 mg/l.
Products with the E0 rating are considered safer for indoor air quality and are preferable for use in homes and environments where people spend a lot of time. Consumers are increasingly seeking products with low formaldehyde emissions to reduce their exposure and improve indoor air quality, making the E0 rating an important consideration in purchasing decisions.
Phthalate free materials
Phthalates are a chemical compound commonly found in many flooring products. Phthalates have been identified as endocrine disruptors and are detrimental to human health. Phthalates can be found in most products that have contact with plastics during production, packaging, or delivery. They have long been associated with medical conditions. Heartridge Vinyl, Luxury Vinyl & Hybrid floors are made with no undesirable phthalates, helping your family breathe cleaner and fresher air.
You can rest easy knowing that all our Vinyl, Luxury Vinyl and Hybrid floors have been tested and approved by a panel of experts (pharmacists, chemists, GPs, allergists, lawyers and other professionals) to prove that our product provides a potential benefit to someone with asthma and allergies.
At Dunlop Flooring, we are serious when it comes to product testing, not only to ensure the best quality products but the safest. We are proud to say that silica is not detected in our entire hybrid collection across Heartridge range.
This means that any builders or installers who use our products can ensure that they will not be exposed to dangerous dust particles that can cause illnesses such as silicosis or lung cancer. Without action, an estimated 100,000 workers are at risk in the next 50 years.
What is crystalline silica and silicosis?
Crystalline silica (silica) is found in sand, stone, concrete and mortar. It is also used to make a variety of products including composite stone used to fabricate kitchen and bathroom benchtops, bricks, tiles and some plastics. When workers cut, crush, drill, polish, saw or grind products that contain silica, dust particles are generated that are small enough to lodge deep in the lungs and cause illness or disease including silicosis. Silicosis is a long-term lung disease caused by inhaling large amounts of crystalline silica dust.
