Pet parents can now choose to purchase a Snooza Pet Bed containing the “Snooza EcoFresh” comfort-fill support and know it has been reviewed and approved by an independent expert panel to provide a potential benefit if they, or a member of their family, have asthma or allergies.
The National Asthma Council Australia’s Sensitive Choice Program Manager, Adele Taylor, said this is exciting news as pet allergens are one of the most common household asthma and allergy triggers.
“Avoiding pet allergens can be difficult if the source is a much-loved furry family member, as allergens become airborne when a pet sheds hair and they can remain airborne for some time.
“The approved Snooza Eco-Fresh beds represent a world first in pet bedding technology and we are delighted to welcome them as an approved product to the National Asthma Council Australia’s Sensitive Choice program,” she said.
Luis Albornoz, Director of Snooza Pet Products said they were proud and delighted to be the first Australian Pet Comfort and Wellness brand to be approved by Sensitive Choice.
“Snooza EcoFresh is a plant-based treatment that shields a dog bed from bacteria, fungus and microbial growth that can lead to allergic reactions and odours. It also destroys the food sources for dust mites, preventing them from flourishing and breeding in the pet beds.
“The approved bed range includes our fibre-filled, Australian made beds such as our Snugglers, Calming Cuddlers, Nestlers, Outdoor Mattresses, Deep Sleepers, Low Front Lounge and more.
“Our EcoFresh bedding technology has been years in development and testing and represents the biggest innovation in pet comfort and human wellness in years.
“Most fluffy, fibre-filled indoor dog beds tend to accumulate dirt, hair, drool and skin particles that can lead to odour, bacteria and even dust mites, if left unwashed over time. Like pillows, fluffy dog beds act like lungs, meaning when a pet lies on a bed and its body weight rests on the bed, air is expelled from the dog bed, releasing particles that can trigger allergic reactions,” he said.
The National Asthma Council Australia’s Sensitive Choice program has been helping to educate and empower consumers to identify asthma and allergy-aware products and services through the trusted blue butterfly since 2006.
“All products and services that carry the Sensitive Choice blue butterfly have been reviewed and approved by an independent expert panel and includes hundreds of products – everything from building products and cleaning agents, to air purifiers and vacuum cleaners.
“We are delighted to work with companies like Snooza and encourage more manufacturers and suppliers to produce products and services that are asthma and allergy-friendly that could benefit people with these conditions,” said Ms Taylor.
