This National Asthma Week (1 – 7 September) the National Asthma Council’s Sensitive Choice program is releasing the first in a new video series helping people with asthma and allergies find building and renovating products and services.

Sensitive Choice Program Manager Adele Taylor says Spring marks the start of building and renovating season for a lot of Australians but for the one in nine with asthma and one in five with allergies it can bring additional stressors.

‘Spring is already a prime time for asthma and allergy triggers and adding a building or renovating project into the mix can increase potential health risks, so we’ve worked with some of our Sensitive Choice approved partners to help people learn how they can combat and alleviate triggers and create a healthier home overall,’ says Ms Taylor.

One of the biggest decisions you can make when building or refreshing your home’s look comes down to paint choice, so we’ve started our series by partnering with Taubmans and Australia’s Renovation Queen, Cherie Barber to highlight the potential benefits of their Endure Interior paint range.

‘Taubmans Endure paint provides eight-in-one multi-benefit protection that helps keep homes clean and healthy year after year,’ says Ms Barber, ‘but it also has anti-microbial properties, and once it dries the paint actually inhibits the future growth of mould and mildew.’

Throughout September Sensitive Choice will release videos taking you through every stage of the building and renovation process from Dunlop’s Heartridge Luxury vinyl plank flooring to CSR’s Bradford Black insulation, plus many more.

‘We also know lots of people still live in their homes while they’re renovating, so we’ve partnered with Godfreys to show you how you can keep your indoor environment clean with their Wertheim 7 Series bagged vacuum,’ says Ms Taylor.
