A clean, hygienic environment is important for good health, but try not to over-sanitise the home with cleaning products.
Cleaning can be a problem for people with asthma and allergies, so look for household cleaning products with fewer harsh chemicals and no fragrances.
Also keep an eye out for mould. Once you have tackled any visible mould and thrown out any affected food, help stop it coming back by ensuring good air flow in pantries and other potentially musty spots.
If you or a family member are allergic to certain foods, take care to avoid them and be careful of contaminating other foods with the problem foods, particularly where anaphylaxis is concerned.
